I have an Oliver gas tractor, but the side panels say its a super 77, although the front under the radiator just says 77. Its a wide front, but on the rear axel reads "row crop". It is Oliver green with white rear rims and a white radiator color(although is slightly mismatched from rim color). The serial number is 52106-702. It also has a specification number 27-1406, whatever that means. Like to know what cubic inch and power this 6 cyl has. Would be interested in your info on why this tractor seems rather odd. Thanks

It is a 1957 Super 77. The decal under the radiator that says 77 never had the word super with it, most likely due to the limited space up there.
It was common for farmers to repaint the wheels on their Super series tractors white to make them look more like the newer triple digit tractors.
Your Super 77 should have red wheels and a yellow grille. Here's the cover of the literature for the 1957 Super 77.

The engine displacement is 216 cubic inches. The gas engine produced 46.18 horsepower on the belt pulley. This figure would be lower for the PTO. This and other specs can be found on the back page of the same piece of literature.

Thank You lots! I am impressed with the fine picture sent. Is the first one that looks as close to mine in general. Sure wish mine was that shiny.
Do I have the wrong impression that a row crop tractor is supposed to have a narrow front?

The row crop could have the dual wheel narrow front, a single wheel front or the adjustable wide front axle. There was a fixed tread width front axle available, but that option plus a few others made it a standard tread or wheatland version.

If you have any more questions, just ask.

Am impressed with what all is on these pages. I am wondering if you may know anything about what the specification number is all about?

The specification number tells what model the tractor is and what optional equipment that came with it. Unfortunately, I don't have the info to decode the spec number for the Super series of tractors.

I recently acquired an Oliver Grove Tractor. Where do I look for the model # so I can establish a date and get a manual for ordering the right parts etc?

It can be in three different places depending on which model it is. Look on the left side of the engine block, on the lower left of the dash, or on the right side of the transmission near the gear shift lever.
