Trying to ID exact year,I was told it was a 1957. After reading your board, thinking it might be a 1955. The ID Plate reads Specification # 15-0005, Serial # looks like 30555-518 kinda hard to read. Starts up runs smooth but needs a little work. Looks like the valve cover gasket is leaking. Does anyone know how to adjust the PTO clutch..?? I run the bush hog for about an hour then it started slipping. Hopefully the clutch just needs adjusted. Thanks for any help I can get. Brian

theres an inspection plate with four screws on the belly side of the tractor. open it up and you'll see the clutch pack. theres a sprocket looking clutch adjusting ring with a lock pin in place. depress that pin and turn the ring, one or two notches clockwise...that loader ..is it a "59a" loader

Thanks for the info on the clutch adjustment. Not sure on the loader, that is something else I have been trying to ID. Looks to be the original paint, it is a fleetline or indusrial yellow...[what color is Oliver yellow ??]... manual trip on the bucket...bucket has 6 forks on the bottom. I can't find a serial or model number on it. Loader looks different than the 59A. The main beams are more like "I" beams, instead of the tube steel main beams on the 59A. Any ideal what model it is ?? Thanks, Brian

your right on the year for your S55, it is a 1955 model. i guess the 59a did come out more in the sixties so it would match more with the 550. would be nice to see a picture of the S55 with the original factory loader. yellow usally represents industrial.

I was looking at some old post on this site and found a picture of a 55 with a loader just like the one on mine. The post was 12/15/02 Here is a link to that post. Picture at the bottom of the page.

Was some talk about the loader but no one could ID it. Still looking for info. I would like to paint this fall, anyone know a good match for the Oliver yellow on the Super 55's ...?? and the green for that matter, I have read Oliver changed the green in the mid to late 50's. Thanks, Brian

that was a nice picture, couldnt tell you what model the loader was. i think its a later model tractor then yours, having the red rims. i think the rims on yours are green because they changed color in 57'. the paint codes i came up with are...green= Martin Senour 99L-3751 or DuPont 5316..and yellow= Martin Senour90T-3753..hopefully someone eles can confirm this!!

Yes mine has the green rims.[rusty green] Thanks for all the info, has been a big help. I checked out the valve cover and the bolts were loose. I tightened the valve cover bolts but was afraid to put to much torgue on them, just used one finger on the wrench and tried to get them all about the same. Ran the tractor for about 2 hours and they loosend up again and started leaking again. I have a shop manual but I do not see torque specs for the nuts on the valve cover. Anyone know torgue specs for these or roughly how tight I can go..?? Sorry for all the question's but this is my first Oliver, I feel like a kid at Christmas with a new toy...wouldnt trade my Oliver for three of those other "green tractors". Thanks, Brian
