I was wondering if anyone knows what model loader was typically put on Super 55's? I think it may be the 588 model, but am not sure. Does anyone know if this is compatable with an 880? Thanks |

Mine's got a 59A loader on it. I think this is typical for earlier Super 55's. Incidentally, does anyone have any information on the 59A loader? I found a guy once who had a brochure, and said he would send it to me, but he disappeared. |

Eric, The 588 was the loader more from the time of the 550. Of course, it would fit a Super 55. In the literature I have seen, the 588 loader was mostly aimed at industrial customers and later was offered as a green ag model. I don't think the 588 will fit the 880 without some major modifications. Mark is right about the 59A being the loader of choice for the Super 55. All of the ones I have seen are a trip style bucket. I think you had to go with the 58 loader to get the hydraulic bucket. Mark, I'll see if I have a copy of the 59A brochure (I should) and scan and post it. I already had the 58 scanned in |

My dad purchased cockshutt / oliver 550 in 1962 new with 59A loader and it came with hydraulic bucket. Has served us very well just having one clutch ,hydraulic pump [under warrenty] and injector pump overhaul since new. It was big tractor till 1971 and we milked 60 plus then so put a lot of hours in . Only wish that it had the power steering all those years! |

Mark, I did some digging and couldn't find literature for the 59A loader in my stash. I have several different pieces from short line manufacturers for loaders to fit the Super 55, plus the 58 piece and 558 loader literature. If I come across any for the 59A, I'll keep you in mind. |

Mark, I was doing some more digging today and came across this. Not quite the 59A literature, but I'm getting closer. |

Hmmm. That doesn't really look quite like my loader. I have the trip bucket, with manure tines, but it's framework is made of bent I-beams. It's got an Oliver tag right on it. I'll have to take a picture and post it. How would I do that? Maybe I'll just email it to you. Heck, I could drive the tractor over. You're 5 minutes away. |

Here's Mark's loader. It is quite different from the 59A. I'll do some digging and see what I can find about it. |

Mark, What is the serial number of your loader? I forgot about my handy dandy serial number book here. My guess at this point is that it is a model 59 loader. No A on the end. If it is, the serial number will start with 59. But if you post it, I can tell you what year it is. |

Chris, the serial number is E456 on a tag on the right hand horizontal c-channel. |

Well, that puts me back to square one. That serial number doesn't fall into any of the ranges that I have. My book doesn't have everything, but it has quite a few. Is there any way you could send me a picture of the serial number tag? |
