I've got a 1969 Oliver-White 1650 backhoe/loader,6 cyl. diesel, 4 wheel drive with a full cab. It's a little rusty, has a few leaks here and there, but it starts on the first crank and runs clean and strong. This is a BIG backhoe... digs like a beast! I bought it a year ago for $10k and used it for 15 hours or so. (I've been told I was ripped off... but I couldn't find a 4X4 hoe any cheaper!) I know nothing about these things.... any help on the approx. value would be appreciated. Pics of the machine can be seen here, http://www.machinerytrader.com/listings/forsale/detail.asp?OHID=3335998&guid=D26 C00BD940042F5AA43700860118E97 posted by the person I bought it off of... don't know why they're still there.... don't call him... he doesn't have it anymore! Thanks, Mike mike@theautoexpo.com |

It seems a little high priced, but if you can't find anything for less, then that is what they are worth I guess. It does look to be in decent shape, and if you were to buy a 1650 ag tractor, put a loader on it, and get a back hoe for the three point hitch, I'd bet you'd have more than $10K into it, and still not have the 4WD. Take care of it and I bet you'll be able to get you money back out of it if you ever decide to sell it. |

Looking at the pictures you've got the 15' dig backhoe. The swing is a hydra-motor, the 17' hoe used two cylinders. Resist all temptation to use the swing to backfill. We had a customer who blew his hydra motor doing it and parts were almost non-exsistant then (mid 80's). |

Well, now that you put it that way...... you've now depreciated it out. Can't be worth much any more. Seriously though, I'm guessing you're wanting about $10k for it? Where are you located? |

Yes... I'm asking $10k. We're near Morgantown, West Virginia. About an hour and a half south of Pittsburgh. I just started advertising it, and I'm not in a big hurry to sell, so I'd thought I'd give it a couple weeks at 10 and see what kind of response I got. Thanks, Mike |
