In Memory of Alta Blue

Alta M. Blue, 80, of Harrod, died Saturday, July 13, 2002 at her residence in rural Harrod. She was born October 16, 1921 in Santa Fe, Ohio, to Benjamin H. and Minerva (Musser) Parr. On December 31, 1940 she married Roger M. Blue, who died July 11, 2001. Survivors include two sons: Russel (Mary Kay) Blue of Alger and Keith (Bobbie Britt) Blue of Harrod; a granddaughter, Diane (Kevin) Shepherd of Kenton; a grandson, Alan R. Blue of Urbana; four great-grandsons: Joshua and Jarrod Blue, and Derrick and Philip Shepherd; a brother, Robert Parr of Marion; and four sisters: Annabel Smith of Lima, Juanita Bourland of Marion, Betty Nogle of Columbus, and Charlotte Brendahl of Cooksville, Tenn. She was preceded in death by a son, Rodney F. Blue in 1963; and by five brothers: Merle, Charles, Orville, Bernard and Junior Parr. Mrs. Blue attended the Alger First United Methodist Church. She was a beautician and owned a beauty shop, and later was a Correction Officer at the Marysville Women's Prison and Lima Correctional Institution. She was an active member of the family farm, and she was a school bus driver for Logan County and the Alger School District. She was a former member of the Three Arts Club of Alger and a former advisor for the 4-H Club of Logan County. She was a member of the Logan County Agrarians and a member of the Oliver Gang. She was a graduate of Lakeview High School. Services were held Wednesday, July 17 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with Rev. Barbara Dafler officiating. Burial was in Zanesfield Cemetery, Zanesfield.
