got the 550 running pretty well.
My neighbor Dave adjusted the valves, set the tiiming.
We put in Champion D21 plugs (2 levels hotter than the 14's I had in there) and set the gap at 35.
The electronic ignition is working great.
The 12v negative ground alternator kit really kicks out the juice too.
Did a couple of clutch pops on the hard pan gravel road and lifted the front end off the road, digging the tires into the gravel.
The govener is working well, as is the new clutch pack.
New rubber on the rear, and next week new on the front.
It even took off in 6th gear.
be adding a new carb next week too.
sprayed a little water in the carb intake to clean the cylinders.....should have seen the crap that came out the exhaust. Black soot, chuncks of carbon.
no popping on valves. We are getting there. |
