What was the most common wood that Oliver used as plow handles, plow beams, or tongues on horse drawn implements? I'm thinking hickory??? Thanks, Geoffrey |

Once again, the Book of Oliver has the answer. On discussing the 40 series walking plow, it says that the handles are "well seasoned oak" and that the beam is oak as well. There may have been others, depending on availability. |

I'm wishing I had a Book of Oliver more every time I ask a question on here. I've got pictures of the potato planter on my website now if anyone is interested. The address is www.geocities.com/olivercollector. Thanks for the info Chris. |
