Unfortunately, I just blew my 1958 Oliver 550's engine right out of the side of the block (behind the starter). I'm not very familiar with engines, rebuilding, etc., so I'm at a bit of a loss. What I'm trying to determine is what I'll need (besides a new block), how I can find it, and what kind of costs I'm looking at. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated! |

Depending on what got hit,you might need a rod, and possibly a crankshaft, maybe even a cam shaft. If the engine was that tired, it will probably need pistons and sleeves. Plus you'll need gaskets. I could see the parts total getting up close to $2000, to do it right. It could be less, depending on the level of damage. The block may even be repairable. Here are some good parts sources: www.korvesoliver.com Farmersville Equipment at 717-354-2150 and Maibachs at 800-808-9934. |
