I saw that there is an Oliver manure spreader in the local paper. I have no idea of the condition, and know nothing about spreaders, what would one in good condition be worth? I might like to restore it.

Sherry had a good article about manure spreaders in the July/August 2003 issue of the HPOCA magazine. It covered several models, including the 11A. The A means it is a 2 wheel tractor drawn, as opposed to the B, which was a 4 wheel, horse drawn.

Below is one that was found just about like you see it. It is owned by Oliver Gang member Dale Sult.

I personally would pay up to $500 for an original one like he has. If it needs alot of work, I would stay in the $50 to $100 range. Bad thing is, you're competing against the horse owners that want a small, ground driven manure spreader. I saw a New Idea that was about the same size and the same condition sell for $850 last summer. Maybe there aren't many hay burners in your area.

If you need more info, I have literature for the 11 spreader.

Yeah, I saw the article. Thanks for the picture, it's better than a pamphlet graphic. The guy is asking $850 CDN, but I don't know if it is restored or as is. I thought it was kind of pricey, but the thing is there aren't many Oliver implements seen in BC. I had to travel to Edmonton just to get a 2 gang plow. I thought it would be a nice piece to show with the Super 55. There are a lot of horses in this area, but I don't think they are going to be interested. From the ad it sounded like this fellow is a collector. I haven't talked to him, as I say, it may already be restored.

Finding a manure spreader in good condition is hard to do, for obvious reasons. And I think implements are starting to become more collectable. If it is restored, I would say the guy is in the right price range. If not, you can always make an offer. :-)

Also, if you can get a serial number, I can tell you what year it was made.
