My 1650 broke the right shift rail. I think I can replace it by removing Detent block. Problem is the center rail won't let block come off. I can have plugs machined to hold Detent balls in when installing rails. The tractor has a Hydra-Power Drive Unit. |

On the bottom of the detent block should be a 1/4" plug that you can take out and the spring and detent ball should come out through the same hole. There are 2 plugs on the top of the detent block for the other shift rails. I haven't done a shift rail in a 1650, but I think you have to pull the engine and Hydra-Power to get the new rail back in. I know you have to on other similar models. Give it a try before you yank the motor out, I would. |
