I"m looking at a gas 550 with a trip bucket loader, but no power steering. All else seems to be in good shape, including front end and tires. It shows to have a little over 4000 hours. I have infrequent use for the loader (does anyone know what it will lift?). Is the trip bucket a pain? I'll mainly use the tractor for mowing five acres. The asking price is 3200. Is this a good enough deal for what I"m needing?

If you want to know what the bucket will lift we will need to know a make and model of the loader. Then also hope the company that made has some literature around somewhere. I will give you one statement od advice. I do not know what you are comparing the 550 to, but it has a live PTO. If you have a 5 foot chopper or mower and drive a tractor with out the live PTO you will find that tractor is much harder to control. A lot of 550 tractors were sold without Power Steering. Remember when you add an implement (weight) to the 3 point it makes the front of the tractor lighter thus reducing the load on the front axle making it easier to steer. Questions? |
