What is the output of the hydraulic pump in GPM and PSI to the remote cylinder outlets.

Never used them but thinking about using 3 pt log splitter.

How much flow and pressure do you need? Pressure is 2000 PSI, but remember only the pressure you need will be developed. How fast are you planning on run the tractor when you split wood. Remember flow is dependent on engine RPM. What do they recommend for flow and pressure for your splitter/

I was hoping that it would supply enough volume at around 1000-1500 rpm.
That would be for reasonable cycle times with a 3 or 4 inch cylinder with around 18 inch stroke.

I am at the which way to go stage. Use a 3pt setup and run the large engine or go for a self contained unit with the extra expense and maintenance.

That little tractor does not use much fuel. The four inch cylinder holds real close to one gallon of fluid. Also remember a cylinder retracts faster than it extends. If you purchase one with an engine do they give you an engine horsepower, pump output and relief valve setting? Remember the old rule of thumb. It takes one horsepower to pump one gallon at a pressure of 1500 psi. Once you have those numbers we can make a fair comparison. Another thing, do you have a hydraulic cylinder now? If so can you hook it up and time its cycle time. I do not care what size it is, but I need to know bore size and length of stroke. Questions?
