Hi, I need the tractor manual that goes with the Oliver 500 (1961), and/or can someone just tell me where the hydraulic pump is located on the tractor...;) Something is amiss with box-blade, it kind of shakes on it's way up and then just continues to whine, am I right to be looking into the hydraulics??? (Please, no one roll your eyes, I am a girl, and this is my first tractor, but I am a quick study!)... Just need someone to point me in the right direction! Well, actually it would be a lot nicer if someone would just fix it for me, well anyone other than the guy down the road who wants $200 just to look at it!!! >laughs at the thought<>growls at the guy down the road<>puts on a smoldering smile<>crosses fingers<>hopes for help< Nikki

Nikki, are you sure of the model number? Could it be a 550? If so the pump is under the transmission cover.

Its been too many years sice I played with a David Brown [500 oliver] Try posting in yesterdays tractor under Case [David Brown ] heading and Elmer will soon set you up with the info. It could be just low oil /dirty filter / water in oil problem. Case dealer may have some info but most in USA just have a blank look on David Browns.

Visit www.olivertractormanuals.org to get a manual. Canada Grant is correct with what he said. I have about zero experience with the Oliver 500. Sorry.

Yes, I am sure of the model. I have pictures of it here: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/truebeauty74/album?.dir=6786&.src=ph&store=&prodid =&.done=http%3a//pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/truebeauty74/my_photos
I have solved the problem with the hydraulics thanks to Sam Kennedy... Though,if anyone else has any information on the tractor in general I would love to hear about it, I am getting all caught up in the history of the tractor now and would love to see pictures of what it originally looked like. Also, a thank-you to Elmer, who is helping me obtain the manuals that I am sure I will use many times in the future... Thanks Guys!!! >smiling< Nikki

There is a picture of a nicely restored one in our photos section of this web site. Click on photos, then the photos submitted by other contributors, and then look for Gary O'Keefe (they are sorted by last name).
