Well, since I have the tranny cover off I am into the Hydraulics. The filter was pretty dirty. I don't think anyone has been into it since it was built. I have removed the pump, and cylinder and the internal control. The cylinder was a bit of a piece of work. It has two pipe plugs on the end, one had a square head, the other a square inset. The squre head became round, and the inset, broke off almost at the surface of the casting. I welded a nut to the stripped square head, and then welded a washer, followed by 3/4" square stock. The heat and the added torque made the plugs come out with ease.
I haven't gotten into the vane pump yet.
One question about the pan for the hydraulic resevoir. When I took off the cover, there was a gasket between the pan and the final drive case, when I took the pan off there was another gasket between the top of the pan and the transmission cover. To try and explain more clearly, the resevoir pan was sandwiched between two gaskets. My parts book only shows one. Did someone install an extra gasket or is there suppose to be two?

Super 55, more?

Found out that there are two gaskets, one is on the parts page with the hydraulics, and one is on the parts page with the final drive. Different part numbers. John Scheibert put me onto that one.
Now I am into the vane pump cleaning it out. I have a little scoring on the surface of the casting. It's just enough to feel it with your finger nail.I am wondering if I have to have it precision ground to resurface or if I can lap it with high grit paper?
Also, anyone know a good place to get gasket kits for it?
