We have both a 1855 and 1850 with the wide fronts. Would like to move them out quite a bit for mowing hay. However neither one will even begin to budge. Anybody have any ideas on how to convince them to move?

That can be a tough one. I have heard of guys drilling a hole and filling the tube up with diesel fuel and letting it soak. You could do that, and loosen up the U-bolt and run it that way for a while.

If you do get it to move, take it all the way out and give it a generous coating of anti-seeze.

Any body else have an idea or trick?

Alllready tried running with the u-bolts loose, actually tried it for about a year, nothing ever wiggled. The other front end that was under this tractor was set to straddle three 30" rows from when we were trying ridge till, was mighty wide but was great for mowing hay as you could really set out a wide swath but not run it down with the tires.

We had one once that was tough. We parking the tractor between 2 tractors. We used one tractor to hold the tractor with the stuck front end and put a chain betwen this and the other tractor so we could pull straight. I think we also borrowed a large chain falls and put this in between as well. we kept tension on and like WB said hit the big tube with a large slede to try to break the rust loose.

I was thinking about taking it to the local welding shop this winter, as they have twice the number of large torch sets with rosebuds on them than I do.
