The valve arrangement from front to rear is: E-I_-I-E-E-I-I-E. Intake clearance is 0.009-011 exhaust is 0.015-017. We set them at 10 & 16. Next step is get number one on top dead center, Compression stroke. Both Rocker arms will be loose. Adjust them. Put a chalk mark somehwere convenient on the front pulley. Turn the engine 1/2 turn. Adjust number two the same way. Put another chalk mark on the pulley. Turn another 1/2 to the first mark. Both rockers on #4 should be loose. Adjust them. Both rockers on number one should be tigh. Turn the next half turn and adjust Number 3 Check the rockers on # 2 they should be tight now. Make up a temporary fuel tank and run the engine at least a half hour, retorque the head reset (check) the valve adjustments. If you have a chrome top ring the best way to break the in is to work the tractor. Also run it a few hours and drain theoil and change the filter, The oil you drain will look like crap. Questions?
