The story continues. After pulling the top off the transmission, we found that I need the righthand "bull gear drive shaft" for my 1964 Oliver 550. The gear that's on the shaft is chipped ~ it's the one which drives the rear bull gear on the rear axles ... Help! Kerry Brunner ~ nailcreek@hotmail.com |

Kenny, Try Farmersville Equipment at 717-354-2150. With the number of Olivers they have disassembled, they're bound to have it. Another place would be Maibach tractor at 800-808-9934. They have a large number of parts tractors too. The part you're looking for is called the bull pinion, part number ES643. |

Kerry, I would also check the thrust bearing for wear. There may have been some play in the pinion shaft to warrant that chipping. After you remove the bull gear and pinion you will have to adjust the end play and backlash. |
