My Oliver 550 needs a set of new rear tires ... and the size currently mounted on the "spin-out" rims is 13.6 X 26. Apparently this is a weird size, and hence pretty expensive per tire. Can a different size be used safely? Suggestions, please!

I have been told that 14.9-26 tires will work. They will look a little "balloony" from the beads being in farther than they should be. I would give a professional a call and see what they think. Measure the size of your current rim to let them know what you are working with. Go to www.millertire.com and give them a phone call, (their phone number should be on their web site) they should be able to help. |

I've replaced mine with 14.6 x 26's. Raises the rear a little bit, and seemingly a whole lot more bite. They do look bigger and wider. The compnay that bought out Armstrong still makes this size, and I think Firestone does too. anywhere from $350 to $425 per tire, depending where ya get it done. That includes reusing the chloride in the tire if any left, and a new tube. It pays to call around |
