I replaced my gear drive and speedo cable and it all seems to be working, but My gage does not register. Appears that the needle is bouncing a bit and when I work the cable by hand I can get it to work. I'm thinking that the gage is reamed out on the inside and won't engage firmly.

Is there a tip or trick to get this working again? Been thinking about jamming in a thin film of material like tin foil or similar.

It doesn't take much wear on the speedo cable to make it slip. But if you have replaced that, then make sure it is engaging the tach, and that the cable is long enough.

I haven't tried the trick with the foil, but it sounds like it would be worth trying.

Where did you find your gear drive? Mine is ground off and needs replacing.
