First of what kind of ring set do you have and were there any instructions in the kit? I would guess you have a one piece oil ring with expander/ Yes No? Also what does not fit, explain: |

got the kit from ricks agri parts.the oil control ring set is 3 pieces 2 rings and another piece kinda like a spring and they don't all seem to fit in groove on piston.no instructions with kit just a packet with rings and a label where each ring goes |

The spring piece goes in first, then the two rings. I offset the gaps of the rings, one to either side of the spring's gap. One ring on the top side of spring and one on the bottom. Just a tip before installing any of the rings on pistons. Place them one at a time in the bore of the cylinder and check the end gap. There will be a specification in the service manual for this. Most times the gap is OK, but once in a while the gap is too narrow. This will cause the rings to bind and score the cylinder. Good luck, WB. |
