Since I am new to tractor restoration, I was wondering in your opinion what is the easiest Oliver tractor to restore? In consideration of availability of parts, etc... Thanks. Travis C. Goshen, Indiana |

I say it's a 66 because of their small size and popularity. |

I think an 88 or a Super 88 would be the easiest based on parts availability. I agree with Geoffrey, the 66 would be another good one too. So would the 77. 66's seem to be quite popular now. My guess would be their light weight and size makes them easier to haul to shows than an 88, hence the higher prices the 66's seem to be getting lately. Just my opinion.... |

My choice would be a 77 or 88. Here in our neighborhood (western New York) 66's are fairly rare and parts uncommon with the other fleetlines are hard to find. We have 6 each of 77's and 88's and have paid anywhere from $300 to $1800 for any one of them, all nice running machines, making them very affordable. The weight of a 77 or 88 should not deter anyone, as we were able to easily lighten our super 88 pulling tractor to about 4500lbs,probably lighter than alot of 66's. Anyhow, the 77 or 88 series gets my vote. |
