hello i have a oliver 70 that ive been working on all winter. I would like to know how to find out what year it is. The plate on the engine reads 307406 C75. I do not think that this is the original engine, because the trans only has three speeds plus reverse. It has a wide front end and it has 12x28 rear tires. This is the first tractor that I have rebuilt and I am very proud of how well it runs. I would like to here from anybody who can tell me more on this tractor thank you Ross&Cathy |

The serial number for the tractor is the plate on the engine. You might be able to find casting dates cast into the rear end housing on the bottom or on other spots on the tractor. According to your serial number, it is a 1941 70 Standard. This would agree with the tractor having 12x28 tires and the wide front. As far as what years had how many transmission speeds, I don't know. Maybe someone with more knowledge on the model 70 can post something. I'll ask some of my sources and see what I can find out. |
