This is my first attempt to contribute to a discussion board! We have just acquired an Oliver 60 standard, serial 412497. I believe it is a 1948 model. Trying to get it back on it's feet has involved extensive, and somewhat unexpected, rim repair. Tire costs are going to be a concern in 2004!. I would like the tractor to be "rolling" before other work is attempted. The rims are now rebuilt and I am wondering if some one could confirm and or also provide information on the correct color of red for the rims. I have found Martin Senour 99L-3752 listed, also Dupont B8590 and Napa custom mix Sherwin Williams J5-6748G. Local Napa stores here do not mix paints. A local autobody supply also suggested Dupont Red B8590 A5C. A body shop friend did a cross reference and came up with Carrera Red which I think is a 1985 to 1990 Chyrsler color, but it is a 2 stage paint and probably clear coat is not appropriate for a tractor. Thanks

You don't say where you are but in canada sherwin williams j5-6748 is available. Its listed under fleet colour book not general book. You may have to do an internet search for a local dealer. I get mine out of Toronto delivered to a local body shop. Napa canada dosn't have any paint codes that usa napa uses! We put a pair of Bf goodrich tire on a 66 standard we restored they were 11.2 X 24 irrigation tires. inexpensive and a nice old style tread pattern.

Jim, I think Grant has a better answer than I do. We used a can off the shelf from our White dealership called "tractor red". It was old enough that it had the White Motors logo on it. But here it is 10 years later and it is holding up great.

I wouldn't shy away from a clear coat. It is going to shine more than the factory paint, but most modern paints are going to anyway. The nice thing about the clear coat is it is very easy to buff out scuffs and scrapes that may happen from time to time.

Thank you for the information. We painted the rims yesterday and settled for American Red from the Agco dealer. (Cost can become a factor!)I called a couple of suppliers and the 24 inch irrigation tires they had were more of a flat bar pattern with open center space to clear the mud. Will look for old stock. Grant, we are located in Saskatoon SK.
Merry Christnas and Happy New Year to all.
