I installed some new discs, springs and actuating balls in the Super 55 today. It seems odd the way the disc assembly just sort of rides on the shaft. Does it center itself, or do the three larger bolts hold it somewhat in place? |

The three 5/8" bolts keep it centered. When installing them, it may be necessary to push in and up on the adjusting bolt that comes out of the brake housing to get things centered. Be sure not to over-tighten these 5/8" bolts, or you will crack the back plate. And that's bad....

yeppers, I torqued them to 37#s. Thanks for the tip. I couldn't find the studs for puting the actuating plates together, you know the ones with the 3 balls inbetween them, so I may have some interference with the bolt heads. I won't be able to check until the weekend. |
