I have a 1650 diesel that the fuel gauge quit working. It says 1/4 tank at all times. The tank is full. Would this be the gauge or the sending unit? Any easy way to test before I end up buying both parts? Thanks for any help.

To test, just take the cover off the top of the dash. On the back of the fuel gauge, attach a jumper wire to the post that has the wire that goes to the sending unit(should be an orange wire). Ground the other end of your jumper wire to the frame or some other good grounding point. If the gauge goes to full when that jumper is grounded, then your sending unit is bad, or the tank has a bad ground. If the needle doesn't move or go all the way to full, then the gauge is bad.

If you need a new gauge, try Rick's Agri-parts, at www.ricksagriparts.com . He has reproductions ones that are as correct as you can get for your 1650. I bought one from him at a show this summer and it looks very close to original.
