How rare are they? When I was growing up I thought all Oliver tractors were yellow. We had a Super 99 and a Super 88. I did not find out until 3 or 4 years ago that other olivers were green. I only have my dads Super 88 left. My aunt sold the Super 99 for $300 It had a stuck brake drum. I wish that I would have been able to save it, but I did not know at the time how special it was. I believe it was also an Industrial. It had large wheel weights on front and rear and was all yellow. Any info on industrial oliver would be greatly appreciated. gwmartino@comcast.net |

I would say that they are pretty rare. I have only seen a couple of Super 88 industrials myself, and I go to alot of tractor shows featuring Oliver. As to actual numbers, the serial numbers would fall in with ag models, so there is no way to put an exact number to the amount of industrials. Here's a picture of a Super 88 Industrial that was at the show in Le Sueur, MN, in 2000. The Idustrial models were beefed up versions of the ag tractors. They also would come with different gear combinations, or accessories like reverse-o-torq. But the engine and sheet metal were basically unchanged from the ag version Did the Super 99 have the GM Diesel engine? Did it have a torque convertor? A Super 99 Industrial would be rare enough by its self, throw in those 2 options and you would have had one valuable tractor. Here's the cover to the Super 99 Idustrial literature.

It had the GM diesel but I do not know about the torqe convertor. looked just like the brochure picture.I have not seen it for several year but I do know the person who now has it and it is still close to were I live. If it is like my Super 88 It is a very heavy tractor to haul. When I brought home my 88 It was weighing in at 8400 lbs the tires were full of calcium. My 88 had the same type of road tires when i brought it home as the Super 99 in the brochure Thanks for the reply Gary |

The Super 99 would be around a 10,000 pound tractor, depending on the added weights. Tell the guy that owns it now that you'll double his money and give him $600 to buy it back. There is a restored Super 99 GM ag tractor on eBay that has an asking price of $18,000. Good running ones in good shape seem to be bringing around $10,000. |
