Thanks Chris for your info a few weeks back. I had the 1650 that had white smoke. Put a new thermosat in tonight. WOW,, what a big difference !! The gauge gets right up there in the middle now. Sometimes I forget the easy things. Still starts a little hard cold though. Guess I will have to get the injectors checked out.What is a rough estimate to have the injectors and energy cells checked out? Thanks again. |

Been awhile since I've had any injectors done, but I would guess about $50/each, maybe more if they need many parts. I would do the energy cells myself. You can make a puller fairly easy. Then you just need to clean them up and check where the flat surfaces meet. The service manual covers the procedure. Other than that, figure about 3-4 hours of shop labor to have someone do it right. Now that it's running the right temperature, try running it for a while and see if it gets running better. The extra heat should help clean some of the carbon out. |
