I would like to add a third remote hyd outlet to my 1655. Reading the recent post about a 1755 w/loader, Ian stated that up to 4 remotes may be used. is this true for the 1655 also? do valve assemblies interchange from 1655 to 17, 18 & 1955?

The 1755 on up use a different remote valve than the 1655. The normal limit is 2 on a 1655. You could put in a power beyond remote, or get a switcher valve to split one of the remotes. If you need more info on the subject, just let us know.

No, and yes. If you have the "standard" set up with depth stop internal valve, or hydra-lectric stop internal valve both of which have 3pt hitch you are limited to two remotes as Chris has said. The 1655's were available with what was called depth stop external valve systems that had no 3pt hitch, these could have up to 4 remote valves. They aren't seen much here, but if you check www.agdealer.com a good equipment search site you'll see them from the Canadian western provinces.

I had forgotten about the external depth stop remotes. I've never seen a tractor set up with these, but I do remeber seeing it in the parts manuals.

Speaking of agdealer.com, last time I looked, there was a 1755 FWA for sale on there for any of you 4 wheel drive Oliver fans out there.

If you go to Agdealer now there is a Cockshutt 1650 with the external valves. Price is almost irresistable if it wasn't so danged far away!

Thanks Ian & Chris. That clears up some confusion I had in reading and interpreting the hydraulics section of my new service manual! I don't need the third remote at this time, just thought it would be handy and I'd have a rare option. I'm sure I'd find a use! Regarding Adealer.com, there are actually (2) 1655FWA and (1) 1755FWA available from an independent dealer in Quebec that I purchased my 1655FWA from.
