Was hoping someone could help. I have an Oliver Super 77 Diesel with the wide front end. My late grandfather bought this tractor new. I have had it for about 10 years now, and it is such a workhorse. I use it constantly. It has the original paint on it, and I was wondering why in the pictures that i have looked at on various Oliver sites, why do they have the wheels painted red? I was thinking about trying to fix this up a little and was trying to figure out what paints to buy. I know I need side panels for it, because they are both missing. Any help is appreciated. The tractor has more of a sentimental value than anything to me, and also the fact that it is all I have to get things done with around the house, but what would that tractor be worth fixed up? I don't think I would ever sell it anyway, but it is so ugly the way it looks now!
Thank you,
Theresa Miller

The majority of the Super series had green wheels. In 1957, Oliver started painting the wheels red again, until mid 1958, when the green and white paint scheme was introduced. The main reason you see so many with red wheels is that a lot people prefer them to the green, so when they paint them, they use the red on the wheels. You will also find Supers with white wheels from owners that wanted to make their tractor look like the newer models. Some Oliver Dealers would even paint the wheels red because that's what the farmer liked.

You can buy reproduction side panels from Richard Lynch. Call him at 937-456-6686. These panels are every bit as good as original and well worth the money.

Restored Super 77's seem to be bringing between $2000 and $3000, maybe more if they are real nice.

A 1941 60 should have 4 forward gears. If you center the shift lever betwen the left and right directions, you should be able to switch ranges by either moving the lever forward or back, depending on which range it is in now. Here is a diagram of the shift pattern.

You can get new side panels for your 60 from Richard Lynch at 937-456-6686.
