The plow needs to be able to move sideways when in plowing position, so a stabilizer bar should not be used. When the 3pt is in the fully raised position (transport) the sway chains should get tight enough to keep the plow stable. An operators manual will give you information on what adjustments to make to get the best performance from your tractor and plow. Good plowing. |

9-09-03 Just Curious, I use to own a set of 3242 plows which I sold last year. Mine had 3 bottoms, but I always used just 2 bottoms on my Super 55. They were very substantial plows. The guy who sold them to me bought them with his 550 new. By the way, do you know about the "draft" and "regular" position lever located behind the seat ? If not, you need to have some old-timer explain it to you. (I am not worthy.) Have fun busting the sod. I found it to be the second most enjoyable thing next to bush-hogging through a field with six foot weeds. You may want to double check the tightness of the bolts that hold your lift-arms in. They are tapered bolts that sell for about $135 and it can should mess up a nice day if those plows fall off out in the middle of of field. (I would never confess to how I know this.)Nothing like an aold tractor to make a man humble. Have Fun !

I have used mine with the stabalizer bars hooked up, (put a heavy nail in the hole just to try it) and if you hit a rock it will really jerk the tractor around. A properly adjusted plow won't need the stabalizer bars hooked up. Go to our links page and click on Floyd County Museum. you can get a manual for your plow from them |
