I am restoring this Oliver and I have a problem. I restored the hood of the tractor welding up a large hole where the exhaust pipe (tractor muffler) passed thru. I bought a new muffler for the 77 from my local Agco dealer. Setting the hood on the tractor with the muffler in place looks to me that the muffler will rub the hood, and the hood will not go into place. I might not have the right muffler. I need the correct deminsions for the muffler for an Oliver 77. Anyone please help. My E mail adress is Skyline2@atc-pa.com. Thanks. Dennis

I'll have to get back to you with dimensions.

What part number did they sell you?

I am the 49 Oliver 77 row crop tractor The part number for the muffler is 4-K452V, Description is BB410. Does this sound like a good number. I am wondering if I should go with a conventional tractor muffler. What do think. Dennis Thanks.

I was looking in the Stanley muffler catalog (the supplier of "all makes" mufflers) at the Case dealer I work at now, and they list a 4+ inch body for 66 and 77 up to s/n XXX, and a6+ inch body for 77 after s/n XXX and 88's. They coorespond to the L452 (short) and K452 mufflers. They probably sold you the taller one.

I think Ian hit this one right on the head. Try the L452 muffler.

Thanks for the help, Ian

Gee Thanks guys. Your were right on. Order the L muffler and it fits perfectly. I owe you a beer. Now what fluid should I use in the hydraulic system of that 77. Bye now.

I use a 10 weight hydraulic oil.

I have heard of several people using the Universal hydraulic-transmission oil in there with out any trouble. I have also seen them use ATF and have good luck with that.
