When using my Oliver 62T baler, once the bale chamber is filled with hay, the plunger seems to not be strong enough to continue to push in more hay. It stops along with the pick up's, but seems like slip clutch kicks in. If I pull out all the hay on the bale side, and maybe a little on the intake side, plunger goes back working until all chambers fill again. Can anyone offer any advice? |

Sounds like the slip clutch is kicking in. I don't have specs for it here, but you should be able to tighten up the bolts with the springs on them on the slip clutch. Turn each nut the same amount, to keep even pressure on the fiber discs in the clutch. It shouldn't take alot of tightening to make a difference. Also, check the knife on the plunger, it may need sharpened. If it is dull, it takes a lot more power to cut the edge of the bale. While checking the knife, check the plate that it slices against. If it is bent or worn, the knife won't cut good. Is this the first you have used it this year? If the bale chamber is rusty or the old bales are hanging in there, you might try loosening the density control springs on the back to let the old stuff pass out and shine things up before tightening it back up. |
