I have a 1969 Oliver 1850 that I have restored with a 354 Perkins and been very happy with. My father has an 1850, 1655, and 1650 so we are familiar and happy with the Oliver brand. I have recently purchased a White 2-105 with a 354 turbo Perkins. I am rebuilding the engine but am looking to increase the power for competing in pulls with the Internationals. Any information to help me increase the power would be appreciated. |

I'm not into to pulling too much, but here's my advice. The Perkins 354 doesn't have the most torque on the low end, so I would look at increasing the RPM's. I would also see about increasing the fuel delivery for more horses. And more fuel needs more air, so a bigger turbo would be a good idea. Your local fuel injection shop will be able to do the modifications to the pump. They will probably have a good idea as to where to get a bigger turbo too. Does your 2-105 have the factory headlights in the grille? If not, you would want the newer injection pump that has the timing advance for the higher rpm's. Beyond that, you could try for bigger pistons and a longer stroke, but then you would be talking the big bucks. Plus it would depend on which class you want to pull in as to how much you can do to the engine. I know there are people that read this board that are far more experienced pullers than I am. Hopefully they can give some more ideas. |
