Any paint codes on the paint for a 57 Super 55. Is it the medium green? Yellow grill and red wheels? I just want to get it right. | ||

You can find paint codes for your tractor at www.oliverinformation.com and click on paint codes. The newest shade of green, called meadow green is the correct shade of green for that tractor. You are also correct with it having a yellow grile and red wheels. The letters of the word OLIVER on the fenders should also be painted yellow. Send us pictures when you get it done. | ||

Chris, I have seen some discussion about the colour of the wheels. I know my 1955 diesel has original green wheels. I have heard that the gas had red, but I have also it depends on the year. Any definitve information on this? Oh, I also heard farmers painted some wheels that were originally green, because they liked the red look better. | ||

Here's my official position on red wheeled Supers. All Super series tractors (55,66,77,88 and 99) had green wheels from the beginning, until 1957. There may have been some wheel switches and repaints along the way. When they started painting the wheels green the feedback was not very positive, hence the return to red wheels in 1957. A neighbor has a 1956 that came from the dealer (us) with red wheels. But that came about because they wanted a different size of tire and so the wheels were swapped between that one and 1957 that was on the lot. So somewhere there is(was) a 57 with green wheels. Here is a picture of that red wheeled 1956 Super 88 and it's owner at one of our plow days.  Red is very popular and I see many, many Supers that should be green wheeled. But the few I have talked to about it say, "I know, but I like the red better." As long as I'm not paying for the paint, I'm not going to tell people it's wrong. Many things were updated for the red wheeled Supers. I'll list some below. All red wheeled Supers (except the Super 44, which stayed at 6 volts) were 12 volt systems and key start from the factory. Prior to this, only the diesels had 12 volt systems. The red wheeled Super 55, 66, 77, and 88 will have the word 'OLIVER' stamped into the fenders and they are to be painted yellow.  The red wheeled Super 66, 77 and 88 will have the wrap around battery cover, as opposed to the flip up lid.  The red wheeled Super 55 will have the fuel tank filler that sticks out above the hood, as opposed to being under a hinged cover plate. It will also have the hydraulic filter between your legs instead of on the left side of the 3 point cover. It also eliminated the draft/position control lever that was on the right side of the 3 point cover. The Super 99 didn't get as many changes as the others, and there are probably others, too. So ends my opinion. hope it helps. | ||

Also, The same applied to the Supers that were built in 1958 before the triple digit tractors started to roll off the line. | ||

Chris, Thanks for all that information. I was wondering about the raised letters on the fenders. Of course my 1955 doesn't have those and I was curious as to when they started. | ||

As has been pointed out in another post, these color schemes don't apply to the industrial versions, which were all yellow. Also keep in mind that for an extra fee, Oliver would paint your tractor any way you wanted it. The raised letters on the fenders continued through into the triple digit series, but they were green like the rest of the fender. Got any pictures of your tractor to send in? I know it's in progress, but it's still an Oliver to me. | ||

Does Anyone know what the paint code is for a 1950 Oliver 66. I have found the MartinSenour and the Dupont number but where I'm located those numbers don't cross reference to anything. My local Agco dealer only can get the Meadow Green which is too light. Does anyone know what the Sherwin Williams or PPG code is? | ||
