thanks chris , do you think they are alittle high

yes, I think they are both quite high. The one for $20,000 doesn't even have the outboard planetary final drives. It does look nice though. But if I was going to pay 20 G's for it, they better be giving some kind of warranty with it. The one for $13,500 is little more in line, but even that is high in my opinion.
For $20,000 price range, you can get a nice 2-135 or 2-155 that will have a roomier cab, AC, and transmission/final drive that is almost indestructable. Don't get me wrong, you will be hard pressed to find a bigger Oliver nut than myself, but when you can buy a 20 year old tractor or a 33 year old tractor for the same money, I know which way the average farmer is going to go.

I would like to find the 2150 FWA that we had here on the farm. Last I had heard it was still in the area, but that has been awhile.

I also saw you question over at the YT oliver board about 1750 FWA's. There was one that sold at a dealer here in Michigan during planting season. I was busy and didn't call soon enough, and it was gone. It had a new loader on it and they had it advertised for $10,500. I didn't think that was a bad price for it with the new loader on. The sales man told me that he wished he had a dozen more to sell for the number of calls he received on it.

chris, what do you mean with outboard planetary drives?

On 2150's, the 2wd had the outboard planetaries as standard equipment. 2150's with FWA came standard without them, but if you got it with them, it was called the heavy duty FWA option. The outboard planetary is a gear reduction that is at the end of the axle where the wheel bolts on, hence the name outboard. The 2150's that didn't have the outboard planetaries had some trouble with the bull gears getting chewed up. This was more of a problem with the 2050's since you could get them 2wd without the planetaries. The ones with FWA didn't have as much trouble because the front axle would take some of the load off the rear axles.

I don't have a picture of a 2150 with the planeataries handy, so here is a picture of my 2255. They came standard with the planetaries. Notice the large hub where the axle shaft would normally be.

Here is one of the 2150's from the links above. Notice how the cast center of the wheel bolts directly to the rear axle.

These plantaries took some of the torque of the main transmission, so they would definitely be something to consider if you are going to use the tractor for heavy tillage.

You've been looking for FWA Olivers for a while now. How many do you have in the stables at this point?

I only have the 1655. Would like to find 1650 someday, maybe 1850. Thanks for sharing all the good info.

Leo,

Seems like I can't get enough of talking Olivers, so I am glad to help out the best I can.

Here is a picture of my 1650 FWA. Enjoy

In a reply above I stated that you could get the 2050 in 2 wheel drive with out the rear planetaries. After looking through some info I have, I found I was wrong. It looks like all 2wd 2050's had the outboard planetaries.

Sorry if this caused any trouble or confusion.

What is a good price range for 1650 FWA? I'd love to find one some day. Do you see many?

My dad paid $4,250 for the one pictured above in 1995. It is the only one I have ever seen for sale. It had a cab on it, but I took that off. Other than that, I have resealed the front axle, rebuilt the carb and done the usual ignition stuff. It is a good runner now, but it does burn it's share of oil.

I have only seen 2 other 1650 FWA's. One is on the cover of the Great Northern/Iowa Chapter's 2003 All Oliver Calendar. It is a gas powered unit too. The other one was at the HPOCA summer show in LeSueur, MN. in 2000. It was diesel with a cab.

In most cases I have seen, FWA adds about $1,000 or more to the value of a 50 series Oliver.
