does a 1950 gm rear end take the same filter as a 1955 rear end?,if not what is the no. for the 1950,wix no., or napa no., or fram no.

Yes, the transmission lube filter is the same for the 1950 and 1955. AGCO part number 72161316. The same filter fits the hydra-power drive and over-under units, plus rear ends for the 1600 and on up to the mighty 2255. This applys to the Charles City built tractors, but may also apply to the Minneapolis Moline cross-over models too.
