i have a eltoro 1950 fwa gm,the axle hub bolts to the adapter plate then it bolts to rim, then you slide the tire on the axle, then you tighten the u-bolts.is this right? did they make a hub that would tighten on axle first with adapter then the rim over the hub to tighten on the adapter.it would be nice just to take the lug nuts off and slide the rim off,i was thinking of turning a dual tire axle hub down alittle so you leave the hub on with the adapter on inside slide the rim off then bolt a smaller tire and rim on the outside to haul the thing around, has anyone seen this done?it would make it easier to move it around thanks john |

The only 1950 with the terra tires that I have ever seen is the one that was at the show in Cedar Falls this year, so my experience is very limited. But if I follow you correctly, you could take the hub with the u-bolts and turn it around on the axle. This would put the lug bolts facing out, but would also move the tires out the width of the axle hub (about 8-10 inches if memory serves). Then you could put on any 9 bolt pessed steel wheel for the purposes of hauling it on a truck and then swap the tires back to show it with. If this sounds as clear as mud, let me know and I'll try to explain it differently. |
