I first want to appoligize beingst this is an Oliver board and all, but in restoring my great grandpas '35 F-20 I hit a snag and has wondering if anyone here could help. I took off the rear drive cover and i found some metal flakes on the bottom of the housing. Upon further inspection I found that the bearing that sits in the casting that supports the drive shaft from the transmission to the final drive gear has no retainer anymore. I took the gear shifter cover off and found there is a 2"in nut that holds the shaft in place. My question is does the shaft come out from the front or the back? If its the back I think I have to pull the entire rear end apart just to get the bearing out. Any help would be appreciated. PS. See you all at the show on Saturday. I will be the tall guy running around with the video camera. |

I have zero experience with the Farmalls, but I might be able to point you in the right direction. Try posting your question at http://www.ytmag.com/farmall/wwwboard1.html If anybody that sees this knows the answer to Eric's question, feel free to post it here. |
