I have a 1365 that keeps blowing the alternator fuse, usually at start-up.The ground light on the dash keeps coming on, so I suppose that the alternator is not charging the battery.anyone ever have this problem? I was going to replace the alternator, but the guy at the supply place thought it might be a voltage regulator. Any simple test to tell for sure? Mike |

There probably is a quick way to tell, but I don't know it. I usually check the regulator first, because it is cheaper to replace. You should be able to take both the alternator and regulator into a Napa or Car Quest or something like it and have them tested. If they don't have the equipment to test them, they should be able to recommend someone that does. Have you checked to make sure that there isn't a wire that is shorted out causing the fuse to blow? I'd hate to spend a bunch of money and then find out all I needed was a bit of electrical tape on a wire. |
