I have a 1952 Oliver OC-3 that starts up and runs for about 20 minutes the starts to backfire, then shoots flames out of the stack, then stalls. It then will not start for about 30 minutes. Then starts right up and repeats the the whole thing. Any one had similar problems and any suggestions? |

My first instinct is: Is the engine overheating? It sounds to me like the engine gets too hot after a while. Could be a stuck thermostat, or a clogged radiator. Next is the ignition. Does it have a magneto or a distributor? A weak coil or a bad condensor will act up when things get warmed up. The next thing I can think of is, do you have good fuel flow to the carburetor? Maybe somthing blocks the fuel in the gas tank, sediment bowl or the carburetor. Also, is there fresh gas in the tank? I am not very experienced in the finer points of cletrac characteristics. You may want to go to http://www.cletrac.org and ask on their message board. Someone there may have had experience with this problem. Let us know how things work out for you. |
