My brother has a super 55. And somthing wierd is going on with it. It will free wheel when going down hill(just like the multi-power on a massey 135). It seems fine when going up hill, or down hill in reverse. It only free wheels in forward gears. he said that it dosent do it all the time. either way its not very safe. We have no idea of what it could be,and i was wondering what you guys thought. Thanks Andy

This is a new one on me. I'm not sure even where to start. I know this is hard to do over the internet, but what kind of noises come from it when it happens? Can you tell what part of the tractor they are coming from?

there is no noises. no gear stripping noise or anything. Its just like you put it in neutral. It really has us puzzled. you would think if the clutch is slipping it wouldnt be able to pull its self up hill, or pull stuff. But it does all of that fine. Just when going down hill in foreward gears. Like i said before it acts just like the multi-power on a massy ferguson 135. I guess we will just have to tear it apart and look around. If you come up with any thing please let me know. Thanks Andy

Needless to say, it is not supposed to do that.

I'd take the three point cover off and look for a loose shift fork. Maybe the bolts that hold it to the shift rail have come loose, and the fork can wander some, letting the shift collar move in and out of gear. That's my best guess right now.
