trying to post this several places. looking at an oliver the guy says is a 1600. tag says 1655. model # on tag is 46522367 ser # 257823 490. the over/under lever is on the dash, not by the throttle lever and the motor has large nozzles, not pencils (was told the large are from 1600 and pencils 1655). could someone just have put a 1600 motor in a 1655? |

Does it have power steering or a factory alternator? |

it has an alternator, not sure if it's factory or not. i turned the steering wheel while not running and the front tires did not turn. i thought it had "power assist" but there is no linkage going to the front that i can see. |

That is definitely a 1655 serial number, built in 1975. It sounds like someone took 2 tractors and made one. The 1600 came first, the 1650 was an improved version, and the 1655 came after that. There were many changes from start to finish, but many components could switch between tractors without much trouble. Someone could have switched the engine and sheet metal very easily, and it would have all been drop-in.

Very often you find tractors like that that are "put togethers", when parts werent as available you did what you could to keep your tractor going |
