Hello, I'm new to Olivers, and to the website. I'm looking to buy a 1755 with a waukasau (sp?) engine. Does anyone know the normal engine oil pressure? This one would only do about 15 to 20 pounds.

I guess that depends on engine RPM. If that is the warmed up, idle pressure, then it is fine. Warmed up and at full throttle, that seems a little low. I would like to see more up around 40, give or take 10. I'd have to look in the book to get you an official answer.

Thank you much. The tractor had been running some, but not worked that morning, so I wouldn't think the pressure would be be low from thinning the oil. The pressure was around 15 pounds at 800 R.P.M., and maybe 20 at 1700 R.P.M.. Assuming gauge accuracy, it would need rod and crank bearings, do I need to replace rod bolts and main cap screws (or nuts)? Do I need to break the tractor to replace seals and gaskets? Thanks again for the help.

On that engine, definitely replace the bolts and washers on the rods. They are a single use item. The main bolts should be ok still.

It's more work to split the tractor than it is to pull the motor out. If you want to remove the crank, you'll have to remove the engine from the frame. Don't forget to remove the long shaft that goes from the engine to the PTO before you lift the engine out.
