Hello, I just bought a 550 (not sure of the year yet) and I`ll probably be posting a ton of questions soon.
I am having trouble with the 3 pt not lifting my 6` bush hog. It will raise just fine with me standing on it, but will only raise the bush hog a few inches. If I raise the rpm`s it will come up a little more, but bleeds back down when I slow the engine speed.
Does this sound like a pump prblem, maybe a valving problem? Is there any way of checking the pump pressure?

Thanks in advance!!!!
Eric

First of all for me I need more information. Do you have a valve for a remote cylinder? Yes we should check the pressure. You will need a gauge that goes to at least 2000 PSI.

No remote, but the guy I bought it from showed me the plugs to remove where you could hook up the remote stuff. I do have a gauge that will go up to 4000 psi. Thanks John.

Also forgot to add that it appears that someone has filled it with hyd oil. The manual says 10w30, that shouldn`t be a big issue though right?

The hydraulic oil is actually better, they just used motor oil back then due to availability and technology differences.

Thanks Chris. Another question...my 550 is supposed to have 6 forward gears and 2 reverse, I can only find 3 forward and 1 reverse. Is there a range lever somewhere I`m not seeing?

John, could you tell me where to tap into the hydraulics to ck pressure, and what is the pressure spec? Thanks.

The shifter does the range shifting as well. Just let the shift lever center itself, and then either push it forward or backward (depends on which range you are in to start with) to switch ranges. Then you just shift like you did with the other 3 forward and 1 reverse. There should be a plate on the dash with the shift pattern on it. If not, let us know and I can post a picture of it.

COOL! I guess I should have figured it out by the shift pattern plate. Just went out and tried it and found the rest of the gears. Thanks again Chris!!
