I just bought a 2 row Oliver planter. Looks god but It is my first. Has no ID plate. 3 pt hitch. Seed and fert hoppers. Large rear wheels. Previous owner called it a speed planter. I can find #s on the castings. Just under the seed hopper is S 1255 A. How can I tell what Model so I can find a manual. I need to learn how to make adjustments and make settings. Thanks |

Contact the museum in Charles City. They will have manuals or copies. It is not the last year of the later model as they had fiberglass boxes or if yours does now you know what model it is Use the 2 modelnumber that were posted on the other form. There will not be that much difference in them. What do you intend to plant with it? Also look for a small metal tag like maybe an inch wide on the frame for a serial number. |

Thanks, I am going over it today but have not fornd a tag. Metal boxes look to be original. Color is green but was painted over red. Colud have been red primer? I will be planting for wildlife. I plan to plant corn, sorgram, peas, sunflowers and maybe pumpkins and watermelons. I have 3 sets of plates but don't have a clue what they are for. |

Sir; What you have is an Oliver No. 44 and 44T Corn Planter. The S 1255 A is the casting part number, when they used casting part numbers, and that part, according to the parts book is S-1255-A Runner Post. |
