I recently purchased an Oliver backhoe. I am interested in finding out the rarity of this backhoe since the hydraulic pump is built into the 550 tractor. Also, the PTO is plated over. Someone told me it was an industrial model and not many were manufactured. Is that true? This is my first Oliver. The S/N is 81-224-519 and is equipped with a Sherman backhoe Model 1258. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. |

It is a 1959 550. 519 was a common transmission code for ag 550s, but it could have been used on an industrial as well. Industrials usually didn't come with 3 point or PTO, so you might have one. I don't know how many were made, but there were no doubt fewer industrials than ag models. |
