Hi all, have a 60T baler that i have been working on and have a couple questions. i was having a terrible time with the knotters not tying so i bought two new bill hooks for plastic twine like i run. i also found that if i cranked down the handles on the back of the machine for a tighter bale, i would have problems with knots, so i added a couple 1/2 inch thick plates behind the wedges in the bale chamber. i went and tried it, had to do some adjusting, and then broke a needle...at any rate, how heavy of a bale should these make? i used a friend of mines j.d. 14T and it seemed to make much heavier bales then this one does, and would make nice bales even with crappy windrows, which mine wont. any thoughts or suggestions anyone? thanks Gary |

I just used my 60T for the first time, and it was cranked down, making a very heavy bale. Too much bale tension can keep the knot from forming correctly, but I was able to make satisfactory bales after things had shined up some, and I loosened it up some. It was going pretty good right up until the chain that drives the stuffer arm broke when I was re-baling the broken bales that had knots that pulled out. The owners manual should tell how to adjust the knotters to make good knots. I don't have one yet, but should be able to order one at www.olivertractormanuals.org |
