Just had the starter rebuil on the 1600 for the tune of $300. I know i have a rough spot on the ring gear and was gonna replace before even installing the new starter. Called the local Agco dealer and was qouted $276 for a new one. Is there a source around for a more reasonably priced one? When given the price i said"no, no, i just need the ring gear, not the whole flywheel" and with that"that is just the ring gear". Seems kinda nuts to me. Would a ring gear off a 88 or 880 work? Have several of those flywheels laying around. Thanks for any input |

Remember 88 gas and 88 diesel ring gears do not have the same tooth count, |

My mistake, should have called Maibach tractor, their aftermarket ring gear is $121.50 + shipping. |
