Just had the starter rebuil on the 1600 for the tune of $300. I know i have a rough spot on the ring gear and was gonna replace before even installing the new starter. Called the local Agco dealer and was qouted $276 for a new one.

Is there a source around for a more reasonably priced one? When given the price i said"no, no, i just need the ring gear, not the whole flywheel" and with that"that is just the ring gear". Seems kinda nuts to me. Would a ring gear off a 88 or 880 work? Have several of those flywheels laying around.

Thanks for any input

Remember 88 gas and 88 diesel ring gears do not have the same tooth count,

My mistake, should have called Maibach tractor, their aftermarket ring gear is $121.50 + shipping.
