Was thinking about going to a auction this weekend that had a Agco 8360?? in it. 360Hp 4 wheel drive. Does anybody out there have any experience with this tractor, looking for a backup or even a replacement for our MF 4880, depending on how the transmission holds together this time.

I do know that AGCO bought McConnell tractor, and that's where the AGCO high horsepower 4wd tractors came from. McConnell is the same company that made the high horse 4wd tractors for Massey. I've heard that the AGCO tractor had a better transmission than the Massey version, plus they used a Cummins engnie, a definite plus in my book.

I heard talk at an AGCO dealer meeting one time that they were considering bringing back a new version of the 4-270, but then they bought McConnell, and that ended that.

Is that 8360 at an auction near Williamston MI?

Yah, I believe that it where Father said it was at. Our 4880 has the 903 in it and after about 10 grand for a long block it seems to be doing alright after 4 years. We did the transmission while engine was out and last spring it started jumping out of low range so had to pull it out right in the middle of planting and repair again. Some enginer had a serious if not fatal brain fart and decided that a two piece snap ring would just be the cutest thing to use, they are too untill you actually try to get them together on the shaft without having one half go flying across the shop. Anyways had one of the little hooks break off of one end and let the low range gearset slide far enough away from the coupler that the detent wouldn't hold it.

I thought McConnell bought the rights from Massey and made them as MF or Mc for awhile then straight Mc towards the end.

I still don't know if were going to go or not, our banker said he could guarentee us 50,000 without even doing any paper work, but with fuel and other inputs sky high and any thing I have to sell is in the basement I just really don't want to spend that kind of money right now. If father wants to spend that kind of money it can come out off his pocket, not "ours". If going to spend that kind of money would rather lose the 9700 and replace with a 2002 or newer 8780 Xp. Anyways can't see the Agco with the 855 doing any better on fuel than the 903 we have now, certainly can't save enough to make a tractor payment with.
