I have a 1750 that I am looking to overhaul, I would like to put a turbo on it, any suggestions?

Only one, DON'T. Those who refuse to learn from history (early 1855) are condemmed to repeat it.

Not a good idea huh? Well thanks for the info, how much horsepower is a 1750 rated at? I'm sure an overhaul will help, checked compression and was half of what factory specs show and i'm finding what looks to be brass chunks in the oil filter. One more question, can I turn up the pump to get a few more ponys (once overhauled)? You're probably shaking you're head at me right now but that's why I'm asking, thanks.

First of all replace the 2 piece wrist pin bushings with one piece bushings. Second measure the valve recession, if seats have not been installed you will need to do that. I agree with Ian and I have been sitting back watching for replies. I remember going to service school when the 1950-T was introduced and they told us flat out Don't turbo a 1750 because here are all the changes in the engine. The 1750 is a nice running 80 horsepower. It is good on fuel has a good torque build up> Why alter a good thing. If you need more horsepower look at an 1850 and turn it about 92-95 horse. Diesel fuel is costing more so why overfuel one? My opinon

Thank you for your comments. I am very happy with my 1750 it has been an excellent tractor. I really don't need the extra horsepower, just wondering. I just put a new hydraulic pump in and am looking foward to going through the motor, (good winter work) thanks again, terry.
